TriLine Index Solutions, an affiliate of BP Capital Fund Advisors (BPCFA), an SEC-registered investment advisor, designs passive index strategies for exchange traded products and institutional accounts and serves as the Advisor to the Pickens Morningstar® Renewable EnergyTM Response ETF (Ticker: RENW).
BPCFA is an SEC-registered RIA, led by a 9-person Texas-based team with decades of combined energy investing experience. BPCFA seeks to build portfolios that preserve capital throughout the energy cycle while providing investors with exposure to the unique technologically-driven growth taking place in the United States oil and gas mutual funds industry.
The design of RENW is informed by decades of experience and energy thought leadership of the late T. Boone Pickens and his team. Renowned as a geologist, businessman, and shareholder activist, Pickens publicly advocated for the expansion of U.S. energy resources through the Pickens Plan, a nationally-recognized movement to reduce America’s dependence on OPEC oil. RENW invests in renewable energy in a contemporary approach that includes companies along the entire renewable energy value chain – renewable energy producers, green transportation and users of renewable energy. The team believes that a global focus on renewable and clean energy will create transformative growth in this sector.
Comprehensive View of Energy
Why include the end user of renewable energy? In broad terms, our answer to this question lies in our holistic view of energy. Often, the notion of an energy investment fund focuses on only the supply side of the sector, particularly the upstream segment, or producers. Investing in such companies that, for instance, produce renewable energy technology like wind turbines or hydrogen fuel cells. Nevertheless, to gain a truly comprehensive view of energy, we believe one must also consider the impact energy has on companies that use renewables to meet their own needs. By doing so, investors can participate in both the cause and effect issues surrounding renewable energy. In other words, what happens in the renewable energy sector has the potential to impact many other industries. Our approach takes this impact into account by selectively investing across those industries, rather than focusing only on traditional renewable energy producers.
TriLine Index Solutions was founded as a natural evolution of our holistic approach to energy investment, as well as a response to the historic meta-shifts currently occurring throughout the global energy landscape. The dynamics of the energy value chain are shifting in the U.S., requiring a redefinition of “energy investment,” and the value of an oil or gas ETF stock. The index solutions TriLine develops reflect the current reality of innovation in energy production and changing global demand themes, and are focused on differentiated energy indices for passively-managed products.
